We are big readers in our house. I try to fit in as much literature as possible while still taking care of my family. This means a lot of audiobooks, and spending my free time reading instead of doing other things. I’m currently in the middle of five books and I have quite a few more on my list that I’m itching to start, but I’m trying to control myself.
I also spend at least 20 minutes a day reading to my babies. Here’s a list of some of our all time favorite books to soak in together.
This was my 12 year old little sister’s favorite book when she was a baby and I couldn’t wait to read it to my own.
This was MY favorite book. I can still remember exactly the voice my mom used for each of the different piggies.
We received this book as a gift a few years ago and I just love it so much! The pictures, story, and characters are great.
I got this one from my mother in law who used to read it to my husband. It is so sweet I could read it every day.
We always read this one in song form and I’m pretty sure it’s how my daughter learned the alphabet.
The only thing wrong with this book as struggling to make your voice sound like Grover the entire time.
This is another one we love to “sing.” It’s also my husband’s favorite pick to read to our girls.
I grabbed this one at Barnes & Noble one day without even realizing how much we would come to love it. It rhymes, teaches counting, and it’s about princesses. Where could you possibly go wrong?
I remember the first time I heard this book. It was at the small library in the town I grew up in during their summer reading program. The pictures are so beautiful, but especially those shiny scales.
Stellaluna. Even just saying that makes me feel happy. This is such a sweet book.
Holy crap, I love these books. My sister in law recommended them to me and I requested ALL of them from my library. The day I picked those books up I think the librarian wanted to shred my library card. I’ve since gotten every book from Mo Willems I can find and I’m always so excited to read them.
All the Sandra Boynton books are so fun and cute, but I think Snuggle Puppy! is my favorite. I’ve compared how I sing it along with my sisters and we think it’s hilarious how we have different versions. Mine sounds very operatic.
Well, it’s true.
What are some of your families favorite picture books? I can’t wait for my daughters to be old enough to listen to chapter books, since I feel like that’s when you really start to appreciate books for the worlds you can travel to through them.
